An employee of the Durban Municipality’s Department of Water and Sanitation was shot dead inside the municipality’s offices in Springfield, Durban, on Tuesday night.
The employee who was killed has not yet been identified.
News24 reported a source close to the investigation said several shots were fired before the gunmen fled the scene.
Spot. Provincial police spokesman Robert Netshiunda confirmed the shooting at the offices in Electron Road. He said Sydenham police had opened a murder case.
“Police responded to reports of a shooting and on arrival at the scene, the deceased was found dead in the municipality’s premises with multiple gunshot wounds,” Netshiunda said.
He added that the motive for the killing is unknown and the gunmen have yet to be identified.
