Police Operation in Limpopo led to the arrest of over 600 suspects and recovered 06 vehicles

The intensified operations Shanela (Kukula) in Limpopo have led to the arrests of 650 suspects for various offenses and also recovered 06 stolen or hijacked vehicles. They were executed from 10 June to 16 June 2024.

The suspects were apprehended for offences that included murder, rape, robberies, burglaries, carjacking, illegal mining, malicious damage to properties, possession of illicit cigarettes, possession of illegal firearms and ammunition, theft of motor vehicles, dealing in drugs and possession of dagga among other offences.

Police seized various items during the operations, which included firearms and ammunition, stolen motor vehicles, dangerous weapons, illicit cigarettes, and drugs such as dagga and nyaope.

Moreover, 83 circulated wanted suspects were also nabbed. The members visited 102 second-hand dealers and 334 liquor premises.

The Provincial Commissioner of Police in Limpopo Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe has welcomed the arrests and praised the Police teams and other stakeholders involved for working tirelessly, to fight against criminal activities in the province.

The suspects have already started to appear in different magistrate courts around the province.

The operations are continuing.
