“We insist on RDP houses in Orania.” – EFF leader on condition to join GNU.
Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) leader Julius Malema has demanded that RDP housing be built in Orania, a South African town with a large Afrikaner population, so that his party can be incorporated into a Government of National Unity (GNU). ).
Pieter Groenewald, the leader of Freedom Front Plus, stated in a recent interview with SABC News that the African National Congress (ANC) has agreed to recognise Orania, which is located in the Karoo region along the Orange River.
According to Groenewald, this was one of their requirements before discussions with the ANC began to become a member of the Government of National Unity (GNU).
Reactions to the coalition agreement are divided; while some praised the ANC’s ability to negotiate, others criticised the inclusion of smaller parties.
Malema took X (formerly known as Twitter) to express his opinion on the Government of National Unity (GNU).
“We have made it clear that for us to participate, the DA and FF+ cannot be involved, and we insist on RDP houses in Orania.”
According to the African National Congress, Ten political parties and the #ANC have reached an agreement to form a government of national unity for the upcoming seventh administration. In the 2024 elections, the GNU’s member parties collectively received over 70% of the vote.
