A fake website has been identified that uses a Pretoria councillor’s name and photos to defame her and attract whistleblowers.
The website https://siobhanmuller.org uses Councilman Siobhan Muller’s name and photos not only to defame her and lure whistleblowers, but also to jeopardize their safety by exposing their personal information to criminals.
“The site is extremely dangerous as unknowing whistleblowers can use the site to report corruption, thereby exposing them to the criminals and their lives and those of their families will be at risk,” Muller said.
She added that the site is designed to lure and contact whistleblowers, exposing their personal information and harming their safety while defaming her.
Muller said the Democratic Alliance (DA) has reported this malicious website and is actively working to have it removed.
“In addition, the DA is working with the City of Tshwane to thoroughly investigate this incident.”
She said the site was found to be hosted by HOSTINGER in Georgia and registered on July 16, 2024.
It was updated on July 21, 2024.
“A number of people have reported the website to the hosting company, Facebook and other social media platforms.
“The site’s origins are unknown, but have obvious malicious and dangerous intentions.”
