Two people were seriously injured in a drive-by shooting in Cornubia

A 34-year-old female and a 24-year-old pedestrian were seriously injured during a drive-by shooting at a housing complex in Cornubia – KZN this afternoon.

Residents contacted Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) requesting medical assistance for the two women.

On arrival, Reaction Officers and RUSA Paramedics located the females on the road. They were bleeding excessively from their injuries. The older female was shot in her genitalia, twice on her right leg and through her right palm. The second victim was shot in both her legs.

It was established that the 34-year-old is a resident of the housing complex. She was disgruntled at a taxi owner who was utilising strongarm tactics to force her out of the area. The woman did not elaborate further.

This afternoon, she approached a white Toyota Hiace belonging to the taxi boss and hacked it with a panga. The vehicle was unoccupied at the time. An unknown vehicle arrived and the occupants opened fire. The second victim was struck by stray bullets.

Both victims were stabilised on the scene before being expedited to the hospital in a serious but stable condition.
