During her visit to Masisi, on Wednesday, the MEC for Transport and Community Safety, Ms Violet Mathye, encouraged community structures to work closely with the Police, to combat acts of cross-border crime.
This morning we received reports that, through collaborative work, community members and the Police were able to intercept a hijack incident, that happened in the area, and the car was destined to Zimbabwe.
There has been a recent spike, of hijacking incidents in this area, in the past weeks, which led to communities participating in a protest march to register their concerns with authorities.
The Police have listed a number of intervention mechanism to combat this phenomenon, but have also requested for an increased community co-operation to win this battle….
