No injuries were reported after heavily armed suspects robbed a cash-in-transit vehicle in Cottonlands – KZN.
Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) received multiple calls from residents reporting heavy gunfire and an explosion.
All available Reaction Officers were immediately dispatched and on arrival discovered a Fidelity cash vehicle blown up.
It was established that heavily armed suspects in a Hyundai (model unknown) and a single-cab Toyota Hilux bakkie opened fire with high-calibre rifles on the truck.
They robbed the Security Officers for a rifle and a 9mm pistol before they utilised explosives to blow up their vehicle.
Several bags of cash were stolen.
