314 Suspects apprehended with 1 firearm and a hijacked vehicle recovered in Tshwane

The operation, Coordinated and led by Brigadier Kushie Pietersen, acting District Commissioner of Tshwane, was executed in collaboration with multiple agencies and resulted in the arrest of 314 suspects for a range of offenses and the recovery of 1 firearm and a hijacked vehicle.

The aim of the operation was tracing of wanted suspects, conducting visible patrols with additional police deployment, and enforcing compliance with liquor licensing regulations.

Tshwane detectives arrested 240 suspects for serious offenses, which included 57 for gender-based violence, 30 for common assault, 2 for murder, 5 for attempted murder, 7 for armed robbery, and 4 for rape.

Additionally, 25 undocumented persons were detained and are awaiting legal proceedings for deportation with another individual arrested for employing illegal immigrants.

As part of the operation, Law enforcement officers searched 507 individuals and 206 vehicles. This resulted in the arrest of 28 individuals for driving under the influence of alcohol with 69 Aarto traffic infringement notices issued to the value of 28 250.

25 identified premises and hotspots were searched which resulted in 6 persons being arrested and fined for drinking in public. 6 Suspects were apprehended for dealing and possession of Drugs when 133 ziplock bags containing various drugs, such as Crystal Meth, Nyaope, Cat and Dagga and an undisclosed amount of cash were found in their possession.

22 liquor establishments were inspected, with 6 closed for non-compliance with the Liquor Act. A total of 670 000 millilitres of liquor were confiscated and will be destroyed pending legal proceedings for non-compliance with the Liquor Act.

1 individual was arrested for the possession of a hijacked vehicle and a unlicenced firearm, when a grey Mercedes-Benz, reported Stolen in Hebron earlier in the month. The firearm will be sent for forensic analysis to determine whether the weapon has been used in other criminal activities.
