Action SA withdraws from Multi-Party-Charter signed with DA
Action SA announced its withdrawal from the multi-party charter (MPC) signed with the Democratic Alliance (DA) and other parties last year.
Interim National Chairperson of ActionSA Michael Beaumont addressed the media on Thursday morning with the party’s leader Herman Mashaba.
Mashaba and Beaumont will not be taking up seats in the National Assembly (NA) stating they would be better served on the Provincial level to focus their attention on the 2026 Local Government Elections.
Beaumont says the MPC agreement has been seriously breached by more than one party as it stated that they would not work with the ANC.
“Action SA remains steadfast in its public commitment to be an alternative to the ANC,” he said
Beaumont says if the official opposition offers their support to the government, questions will start to emerge as to who the opposition is now.
“Who is going to become the watchdogs when those people who are benefiting from positions and privileges and perks, find themselves conflicted in holding a government to an account?
Action SA says too many South Africans are suffering in local municipalities with a lack of water, electricity and infrastructure.
Beaumont said this would not affect residents in Tshwane where they are currently in a coalition with the DA, however, if the main opposition were to work with the ANC the party would be asked to be replaced.
“We will not in good conscience be involved in any coalition that involves the ANC,” he said.

Interesting – Michael Beaumont used to be a leader in the DA In KZN but left after John Steenhuizen (the now DA leader) slept with his wife. Steenhuizen is now married to Michael’s wife following their divorce and Steenhuizen is on the record of saying that he “did nothing wrong” by sleeping with his best friend’s wife. (Steenhuizen had to divorce his first wife before he could legally do this).
