Air Force Searches for Its Airplane Door
The South African Air Force has urged people to be on the lookout for a plane door that fell off during a flight.
Air Force spokesperson Colonel Ronald Maseko said a King Air aircraft of the Air Force took off from Lanseria in Johannesburg and was on its way to Waterkloof Air Force Base in Pretoria as part of a routine maintenance flight.
He says just after the plane took off, the passenger door broke down. However, the pilot managed to land safely in Pretoria. The extent, and the cost of the damage to the aircraft has yet to be determined.
According to Maseko, no injuries or damage to infrastructure as a result of the door have been reported so far.
