A Love-Hate Relationship
“Hate evil, you who love the LORD.” (Ps 97:10)
Love requires hate. It requires hatred of whatever works against the thing you love. If we love the Lord, we must hate sin because sin destroys what God sent His Son to save. Sin mars man that is made in the image of the Father we love. Sin stands in opposition to all that God holds dear and it every sin man commits brings sorrow to Him.
We who say we love God must hate evil – and all the more so we must hate evil when we see it in our own lives.
“Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded.” (Jas 4:8)
