KeymasterBeloved social media star, Sammy Hall’s grandmother and carer attacked in their home-Andre Smit
Sammy Hall, of “Sammy Hall Says” the famous social media joker’s grandmother and her carer were attacked by 5 men yesterday May 8 after they invaded her home. FOLK POWER NEWS posts her description of events and what impact they have in her life.
“Sammy Hall Says”
I’ve already tried to make a video about this, but can’t get through it without crying. It could be a long one. As South Africans, we are so used to talking about crime.
It is a part of our everyday vocabulary, and every day we become more desensitized while at the same time being in a constant state of fear.
The funny thing is, even though we’re constantly aware of the dangers we’re in, we’re still never ready when it happens to us, these are things you read about, not things that happen to you. This may be misrepresentation, but it is true.
This afternoon, my grandmother and her live-in caretaker (whose name I’m not going to share to protect her identity) were at home getting ready to prepare dinner, when 5 armed men entered her home.
One with a large assault weapon and the other 4 with handguns. My grandmother was hysterical, screaming and crying as one of the men began strangling her.
The men were talking to each other in Zulu, and one of the men told the other if she didn’t stop screaming, he should kill her.
Fortunately, Grandma’s caretaker also spoke Zulu and understood what they said and pleaded with them to let her talk to Grandma so she could calm her down.
She kept saying “Grandma please be quiet or they will kill you” and “please don’t kill her”.
I can say for sure if she wasn’t there, Grandma would be gone. Not only does she take care of Grandma every day, with so much love and patience, but she literally saved her life today.
All the trauma this 2 woman had to endure… What for? 2 televisions, a purse the earrings they ripped from grandma’s ears, and R50 cash!
I don’t have the answers, but somehow something has to change. I love this country, but the criminals run rampant and they have no remorse.
The violence is disturbing and I don’t know where it’s going to end. This beautiful country is being run to the ground and people are scared. I just pray that we as a country can stand up and say nothing more! We’re tired!
We deserve better, we deserve to be safe in our own fucking homes! 😔 (and please don’t say a word about me using the F-word because there is a time and place for everything, and this day calls for F-bombs, thank you very much)
I just hope people will vote for better, and that we can rebuild a society where criminality is not left unpunished and even encouraged. The worst part is that after this ordeal, you actually feel “happy.”
“Fortunately, I was dealt with harshly and traumatised and not murdered or raped” – This just proves how much trauma we have as a country.
I know it was a long letter, but I needed the vent. Thank God they’re okay, at least physically. I hope everyone is safe and as always, I will just pray for this country.
Thank you to the security and trauma counselors for everything, and I can’t stress enough how grateful we are for Grandma’s caretaker, not just today but always. She’s an angel.
Love you guys.
