The Bittereinders’ Francois van der Merwe appeared in Groblersdal Magistrate’s Court today for his bail application to continue.

However, the time ran out with first load shedding and then several other issues to be postponed.

The bail application was postponed to February 15.

* Van der Merwe was arrested after a group of bitter enders, farmers and community members gathered during a peaceful protest march to Mr.

Piet Groenewald and his stepson, Stephan Greeff, to support their separate bail applications.

Van der Merwe was flattened by at least seven policemen and two traffic men during his arrest, after he, according to his statement of oath, simply wanted to turn past police officers.
