Cocaine worth R8 million is found in Pietermaritzburg- by Ronnelle Snyders
NATAL – On Wednesday, 19 June 2024, Hawks members of Pietermaritzburg Serious Organised Crime Investigation seized 20 bricks of cocaine at an industrial park near Pietermaritzburg.
Members received information about a truck carrying a chemical crop spray tractor from the Durban harbour to the Free State province. A disruptive operation was carried out quickly and members proceeded to the said industrial park.
The said truck was located and found stationary. A search was conducted and members found 20 bricks of cocaine hidden in the chemical spray can. A detailed statement was obtained from the driver and no one was arrested at this stage. The investigation is ongoing.
The KwaZulu-Natal Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation, Provincial Head, Major General (Dr) Lesetja Senona welcomed the seizure and congratulated the members for the good work.
