Jul 6, 2023 CHONGQING
Torrential downpours and flooding have killed at least 15 people and four others remain missing in Chongqing, southwest China, state-run news agency Xinhua reported Wednesday, citing local authorities.
The deaths have been recorded since Monday as heavy rains have battered southwest China, prompting four counties in Chongqing to issue the highest level of red alert warnings.
*************************************2023-10-05 at 00:20 #422995VIKING BOERModeratorWith China’s hundreds of good engineers and all their building skills, they just can’t protect their cities from flooding.
China has built hundreds of dams all over but neglected to safeguard its own cities from flooding.
China can build a massive wall that can be seen from space but can’t build walls to direct the flooding waters to dams and other places where there is nobody living.
The draining systems in their cities are a joke and mostly indicated as false drainage points that only show a drain cover on top with no channels or pipes underneath to take the water away.
I always thought the Chinese were clever people but it looks like they shoot themselves in the foot time after time.
I rest my case. -
