Police in Gqeberha are still searching for the suspects who severed an 61-year-old man’s ear, during a home invasion in Despatch last week.
Police spokesperson, Colonel Priscilla Naidu says the man’s wife was awoken by noises and a flashlight shining in their yard in the early hours of Friday morning.
According to Naidu, a scuffle ensued after the elderly man took a knife and went into the backyard to investigate.
The suspects overpowered the complainant and forced him into his home before making off with two cell phones.
The man was taken to hospital for medical treatment and took his ear with him to be reattached.
