Farmer attacked near Barkly East | Agriculture
Police are still searching for the suspects who attacked Dirk Odendaal about 15m from the house on his farm in Barkly-East on Sunday evening.
Capt. Ursula Roelofse, police spokesperson, says a case of attempted murder is being investigated after Odendaal was believed to be attacked around 21:30.
She says he walked to the generator room when he was attacked and stabbed in the neck. The motive for the attack is not known and no one has been arrested yet.
According to reliable information shared with
Landbou.com two assailants attacked him and stabbed him with knives when he tried to turn off the generator. He believed to fight back and the attackers fled the scene.
One of the attackers is supposedly a wiremaker who had previously worked on the farm and is currently working on one of the nearby farms. Farmers and police still fine the area for the suspects.
