FARM ATTACK, Caledon. Western Cape. South Africa.

This elderly lady in the photo is one of the victims reported of being attacked on a farm close to Caledon in the Western Cape approximately 48 hours ago.
The whole ordeal was written by her daughter, as follows;

The Katz Family from Klein Sandfontein, has now also become part of the crime statistics for farm attacks. How fortunate we are that this was not a “Farm Murder” – or it could so easily have been….”

“Imagine you hear this call from your son at roughly 20h30, “Mom, everybody, come quickly, Granny and Aunty Renee have been attacked…Come quickly”!!

“Everyone on the farm has 2-way radios and within 2 minutes, we were all at my Mom’s house and as I raced into the house, I run down the passage and find my poor Mom (nearly 87) passed out and bleeding in the doorway.”

“You have no idea of the trauma to witness this, never mind being old and fragile, lying quietly in your bed and being viciously attacked by 3 men?”

They bound my Mom with her torn up sheets, they tied her fragile hands with cell-phone charges behind her back, they tied her feet so tightly and gagged her, then threw her off the bed while they got busy ransacking my Aunty’s room, tying her up too in the next room.”

“They then ransacked the whole house, tearing the TV’s off the walls and making off with as much as they could carry, including her shoes and her wedding ring. They also no longer have cell phones.”

“These are all material things that can be replaced (except her wedding ring) and mean nothing. We still have our Mother and Aunty. These two have been best friends for 62 years. We are so thankful and yet so traumatised.”

“Mom is still in hospital, so thank you all for your concern and support. Thanks to the South African Police Services (SAPS), Agri Patrol, Caledon Ambulance and the staff at Hermanus Medi-Clinic.”

“Life is short! Value your family and friends. Tell them you love them. You never know…. In South Africa today, every day is a precious gift”
