At around 11:00 four men, of which at least one was armed, entered the home of an elderly man.
He and the domestic worker were tied up, forced to hand over keys, and while neither suffered any injuries, they are very traumatized.
The perpetrators fled with the man’s silver TOYOTA RAV 4, cell phone and domestic appliances direction Ekangala on the Zonkolol road.
A farmworker noticed the car racing away, went to investigate and called for help. Unfortunately, the details remain unclear:
There are no signs of forced entry, SAPS could not find fingerprints, and the police dogs could find no tracks. No-one knows how the perpetrators got there, whether the property was targeted or if it was a random or opportunistic crime. Our thanks to the community and neighbours, as well as the members from SAPS who responded quickly. We are thankful that there were no serious injuries, and hope that the perpetrators will be caught, and the man’s property returned. We urge everyone to remain vigilant, to keep doors and gates locked.
