This is the Israeli Merkava Main battle tank. Its 120 mm MG253 smooth bore cannon can fire multiple types of munitions on a target 2,000 meters away while on the move thanks to its sophisticated fire control systems. The development of the Merkava takes us through multiple wars and a unique period in Israel’s history. It tells us a lot about how Israel’s domestic military-industrial complex became the powerhouse it is today. I want to find out what type of tactics and strategy work best with the Merkava in urban warfare. We’ll also explore the vehicle’s strengths and weaknesses.
