A 33-year-old man accused of beating two men and leaving them unconscious appeared before the Klerksdorp Magistrates Court on Thursday.
Wernich Botha made his first court appearance just hours after his arrest following an incident at a parking lot at a shopping centre in Doornkruin.
He is being charged with attempted murder and assault with the intent to do grievous bodily harm after footage of the incident went viral on social media.
In the video, a man, believed to be Botha is seen assaulting a 32-year-old man before also assaulting a 44-year-old man who sustained a concussion and shoulder injury.
The spokesperson for police Colonel Adéle Myburgh says the younger victim sustained a brain injury and is still in hospital.
Botha was released on bail of R2 000 and must be back in the same court on the 19th of October.
Police condemned the incident and urged the public to stop sharing the viral video as the clips could hamper the investigations.
The incident was also condemned by the Provincial Commissioner of the North West Province, Lieutenant General Sello Kwena.
