Lauren Dickason to appeal murder conviction-Ronelle Snyders
The South African doctor who was jailed for the murder of her three daughters at their home in New Zealand is appealing her convictions.
Lauren Dickason was sentenced by a Christchurch court in June to 18 years in prison for the murder of her three young daughters in 2021.
In a statement to local media after her sentencing, Dickason said she had “let down” her children and her husband, who had since moved back to South Africa.
She has pleaded not guilty to three counts of murder, defending insanity or infanticide.
The New Zealand Herald reported on Monday that Dickason was fighting her conviction. Her legal team filed a notice of appeal against conviction with the Court of Appeal on July 23.
The grounds for the appeal are not yet known. If the appeal is successful, a second hearing can be held.
