‘Nothing to do with it’: Joslin Smith’s mom and stepdad to take lie detector test
Gayton McKenzie will fund a lie detector test for Joslin Smith’s mother Kelly and her partner amid speculation from the public…
Joslin Smith’s mother, Kelly, and her partner, Jacquin Appollis, also known as “Boeta,” are hoping to prove their innocence via a lie detector test. Patriotic Alliance leader Gayton McKenzie will fund the test.
The couple have faced speculation from their community in Diazville, Saldanha Bay, after the disappearance of the seven-year-old girl last week.
According to Kelly, they also fear for their safety and have been forced to seek help at their local police station.
JOSLIN SMITH MOM AND STEPDAD TO UNDERGO LIE DETECTOR TEST
In a Facebook Live, Joslin Smith’s mother, Kelly, revealed that she and her partner, Jacquin Appollis, would undergo a lie detector test. The test will take place on Wednesday, 28 February, at an undisclosed location.
Last week Monday, Joslin went missing from her home while in the care of her stepfather Jacquin.
Kelly claims that two other males were also in the house.
Defending her boyfriend, she said: “My boyfriend has nothing to do with it. He is innocent.”
When asked by Gayton McKenzie if she ever suspected her partner of harming her daughter, Kelly responded: “I’ve never looked at him that way. He has been a part of our lives more than their own father. They call him ‘Pa.’”

WHY NO TEARS?
When asked by Gayton why she never publicly cried over Joslin Smith’s disappearance, Kelly responded: “I must have the strength to find her.
“If you think I am guilty, then you are making a big mistake. That’s my child. You don’t know how I feel.
“My pillow is wet. That’s how much I cry. I don’t go around crying all day. I have two more children who are alive. All that crying can make me commit suicide.
“I feel broken like an egg that no one can mend. I just want to find Joslin and hold my child in my arms.”
Gayton – who vowed to stand by Kelly and her family – concurred that “people grieve differently.” Gayton has also offered a R100 000 reward for information leading to Joslin’s return.

FEARS FOR HER SAFETY
Meanwhile, Kelly claimed that the community has ostracised her and her partner since news broke of Joslin Smith’s disappearance.
She continued: “They [authorities] had nowhere to put us, so they put us in a police station
“The community wants to hurt me and Boeta because they believe I know something about my child’s disappearance. I know nothing. Not even Boeta.
She added: “Stop blaming us for something we didn’t do. We don’t feel safe anymore.”
