ON THIS DAY in REFORMATION HISTORY
19 April 1526 – The citizens of Strasbourg, Nuremberg, Ulm and nine other cities, along with numerous electors and princes, protested a decree of the Diet and petitioned the Emperor to allow religious freedom in Germany. From this point on, the Reformers were given the name of “Protestants.”
