Residents were evacuated from a block of flats in Cape Town due to a massive fire. City of Cape Town fire and rescue spokesperson Jermaine Carelse said the fire was believed to have started at 06.40am on Wednesday.
Flames and smoke could be seen from afar as firefighters came to work at the apartment complex on Upper Mill Road, near Gardens Shopping Centre. “The area was evacuated and there were no injuries,” Carelse said.
At least two apartments were damaged.
