Dr Sunil Dand is absolutely spot on about medical organisations like the American Diabetes Association not giving us the proper advice on managing type 2 diabetes. Carbohydrates is an absolute no-no. What can one expect when the CEO of the ADA is. former employee of the Kellogg’s foundation, the maker of unhealthy sugary pops for children. He is right to ask the question, “why would the ADA want to cure diabetes if they receive a sponsorship of $100 million a year?” I have no doubt this question should be asked of several other medical associations, whom many frontline doctors like me turn to for guidelines to manage conditions like hypertension, cholesterol and asthma etc.
I have not been afraid to challenge the advice of many of these associations after I discovered that many of them were under the spell of big pharma.
