On Tuesday around noon, the lifeless bodies of Edwin De Vos, 45, and his 19-year-old son, Leonardo De Vos, were discovered on a dirt road near Addo Road in Gqeberha. They were last seen departing from their residence on Sunday. They were reportedly in the company of a woman who had previously helped them repair her vehicle.
The two left home around 7 a.m. on Sunday, Aug. 20, 2023. After their absence was reported by De Vos’ wife at gelvandale police station on Tuesday, a disturbing coincidence emerged: while she was delivering the missing person’s report to police, authorities were simultaneously notified of the bodies found on a dirt road in Swartkops. After inspection, it was confirmed that the deceased was indeed the missing father and son. With the deployment of investigations, SAPS Swartkops detectives have launched a double murder investigation into the tragic incident.
