A truck was torched during a service delivery protest in Nelson Mandela Bay on Friday morning.
Police captain, Andre’ Beetge, said protesters took the streets at around 6 AM on the R-75 opposite Bayland in Gqeberha.
He said they blocked both sides of the busy road with burning tyres and rubble.
Beetge said the truck driver escaped unharmed, however, the vehicle’s cab and main trailer were destroyed.
He said a second trailer was partially damaged.
Beetge said Public Order Police would remain on the scene.
A case of malicious damages to property has been opened and is being investigated by SAPS Kwadwesi.
