The South African National Defence Force (SANDF) said the viral video showing SANDF members assaulting an alleged hijacker is being investigated.

SANDF spokesperson Siphiwe Dlamini said they had noted a video circulating on various social media platforms showing a group of people dressed in recognizable SANDF combat dress (camouflage) manhandling an unknown person at an undisclosed location.

THE SANDF ARE GATHERING INFORMATION IN ORDER TO ESTABLISH FACTS
The viral video that was posted on social media has gone viral. In the video, a group of men dressed in what seems to be SANDF uniforms assaulting a suspected hijacker.
The alleged hijacker can be seen forced to the ground and repeatedly receiving blows to the head.
IT IS BELIEVED THE OWNER OF THE CAR IS A SANDF SOLDIER
It is suspected that the owner of the car is one of the soldiers who managed to track his vehicle, a white Toyota Etios hatchback.
Upon arrival, the SANDF members caught the alleged criminal attempting to remove the vehicle tracker.
