A 19-year-old man is due to appear in the Kariega Magistrates’ Court on a charge of murder following the fatal stabbing of his mother’s boyfriend.
It is alleged that the 25-year-old man and his girlfriend went to visit her son when an argument ensued between the couple at 12:00 on Sunday, 25 December 2022 at Moo Valley, Despatch.
It is further alleged that the 25 year-old man also assaulted his girlfriend with a golf club during the argument.
The couple continued to argue and the son decided to step in an attempt to stop the fight.
The 25-year-old man then allegedly picked up a stone and attempted to hit the 19-year-old son with it.
The son then took out a knife and stabbed the 25-year-old man in the chest.
The 25-year-old man then walked to his own house in Moo Valley where he collapsed and died. The name of the deceased will be released once formal identification is completed.
The 19-year-old was detained on a charge of murder and is due to appear in the Kariega Magistrates’ court on Wednesday, 28 December 2022. Investigations are continuing.
