Henderson police arrest suspect with a stolen firearm on a farm

Ongoing efforts by our dedicated and committed members to rid communities of illegal firearms yielded positive results when police members arrested one suspect on Wednesday, 15 February 2023 in possession of an illegal firearms and ammunition.

It is alleged that at about 02:00 on the mentioned date, members swiftly responded to information of suspect being in possession of unlicensed firearm at Keilads Farm.

On arrival they searched the premises and recovered unlicensed firearm and ammunition.

Through investigation it was discovered that the firearm was stolen at Bolo Policing precinct.

The suspect (42) is expected to appear at Cathcart Magistrate court soon on charges of illegal possession of firearms and ammunition.

District Commissioner, Maj Gen Rudolph Adolph applauded members for their quick response. ‘ Recovered illegal firearms may be considered as success however it is still a serious concern that so many illegal firearms are still roaming the streets and used to commit crimes. The impressive recovery of these firearms is commendable,’ added Maj Gen Adolph.
