The members attached to Upington Border Police reacted to information received about a van that was allegedly transporting and dealing in illicit cigarettes on Saturday, 4 March 2023.
The information was operationalised and the vehicle was stopped in town.
Upon search 28 master cases illicit cigarettes were discovered hidden between other cargo.
A 44-year-old suspect was arrested for dealing in illicit cigarettes and is expected to appear in court soon.
Cigarettes to the value of R 308 000.00 were seized.
