Limpopo Highway Patrol team recover stolen vehicle, illicit cigarettes

Two suspects aged 32 and 40 were arrested for possession of illicit cigarettes and possession of suspected stolen motor vehicle in separate incidents in Polokwane and Lebowakgomo, on Thursday 9 March 2023.

Members of the Limpopo Highway Patrol were patrolling in Polokwane CBD, when they spotted a suspicious man carrying a box entering a store, and they immediately approached him. They searched him and found 30 cartoons of illicit cigarettes.

The suspect aged 32 was arrested for possession of illicit cigarettes of an estimated value of R3000-00.

In another incident at Lebowakgomo, they arrested a 40-year-old man for possession of stolen motor vehicle at Lebowakgomo Mall.

Allegedly, the team received information about the suspect selling a vehicle at Mall. On arrival, the Police searched and tested the said vehicle a black Hyundai and found that it was reported stolen at Saps Hebron in Gauteng province.

The Provincial Commissioner of the South African Police Service in Limpopo Lieutenant General Thembi has lauded the Police for working tirelessly aiming to eliminate criminal activities around the province.

The suspects will soon appear before Lebowakgomo and Polokwane magistrates’ court.
