Police in KwaZulu-Natal have arrested a suspected hitman who is linked to the murder of five people and the attempted murder of two other people who were ambushed in Tongaat in March 2023.

Two men were shot and killed inside their vehicle on Gopallal Road in the Tongaat CBD before three security guards who were escorting the chairperson of a taxi association were shot and killed inside their vehicle, a short distance from where the two were killed. Two people also sustained gunshot wounds in these incidents.
