Two suspects are behind bars on charges of possession of unlicensed firearm and ammunition

Continued efforts to rid our communities of prohibited firearms and ammunition turned out to be successful when members deployed at Milnerton and Ravensmead SAPS arrested two men on charges of the unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition.

On Thursday, 08 February 2024, members attached to Milnerton SAPS were busy with their crime prevention duties when they pulled over a suspicious looking vehicle on the Corner of Koeberg Road and Boundary Road. The members searched the driver and the vehicle upon which they discovered an unlicensed firearm and ammunitions in his possession. Further investigation revealed that the firearm was reported stolen at Strand police station. The members arrested an adult male on the mentioned charges. The suspect will appear in the Cape Town Magistratesā€™ Court on charge of possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunitions.

In an unrelated incident on Wednesday, 07 February 2024, on the corners of Disa and Carnation Avenue, Uitsig, Ravensmead. The police members were busy with patrols when they spotted a man walking along the street who changed direction upon seeing the patrol van. The members immediately jumped out of the vehicle as they saw the man holding on to something on his waist. The members approached the man and upon searching him they found an unlicensed firearm and ammunition in his possession. The 33-year-old suspect was arrested on charges of possession of unlicensed firearm and ammunition.

The suspect already appeared in the Goodwood Magistratesā€™ Court yesterday 08 February 2024.
