    More than 200 000 South Africans have signed the #CELEMUSTGO petition calling for Police Minister Bheki Cele to be removed from public office.
    ACTION SOCIETY WANTS THE MINISTER GONE
    Ian Cameron from Action Society actively promotes Cele’s removal as Minister of Police.
    The organisation has garnered support from more than 200 000 people who signed the #CELEMUSTGO petition for Minister Cele’s removal from office.
    Cameron says the minister is not doing his job. He should be putting strategies in place to curb and eradicate crime.
    MINISTER SPENDS MILLIONS ON CATERING AND ENTERTAINMENT
    There is a 200 000 South Africans who signed the #CELEMUSTGO petition to have the Minister of Police Bheki Cele removed from public office.
    Under Cele’s management, South Africa consistently recorded more than 100 cases of rape daily. This is between four and five rapes per hour. He said South Africa recorded the bloodiest year for murder since 2006 in 2021/2022, with 24 865 committed murders.
    “While they offered police officers a 3% wage increase this year, Minister Cele revealed his department has spent over R1,5 billion on accommodation. He has spent R42,7 million on catering and R1,8 million on entertainment since March 2019,” says Cameron.
    200 000 SIGNED THE #CELEMUSTGO PETITION CALLING ON THEM MINISTERS REMOVAL
    “However, he spends his days attending funerals with his motorcade, yelling at activists. He makes insensitive statements about rape and tries to convince us the shocking crime statistics show a decline,” stated Action Society.
    Action Society lodged a formal request to the Speaker of Parliament, Nosiviwe Mapisa-Nqakula, in July 2022, asking for Cele’s removal. They wait for the response.
