South African criminologist and former policeman Dr Hennie Lochner has reportedly commented on the deaths of Kiernan Jarryd Forbes (AKA) and his friend Tebello ‘Tibz’ Motsoane, saying that Police minister Bheki Cele should have been fired a long ago for failing to address issues of violent crime.
AKA was killed ‘execution style’ on Friday, 10 February, when gunmen opened fire on him and Motsoane at Wish restaurant on Florida Road in Durban, Kwa-Zulu Natal.
The star’s former manager, Tebello “Tibz” Motsoane was also shot.
South Africans were taken aback by the news.
‘WEARING A COWBOY HAT DOESN’T MEAN YOU ARE A COWBOY’ EXPERT SAYS
In response to the incident, Lochner said that the time has come for Cele to vacate his position.
“It is not only me who is feeling this way but many other South Africans. I mean you can’t make a teacher a minister of police, you won’t just allow any ordinary practitioner to operate on you if you have a heart problem. We need to appoint the right people.

“Wearing a hat like a cowboy does not necessarily mean you are a cowboy, and this man is not the right man for the job,” The Citizen quoted Lochner as saying.
He further said that “criminals are becoming more brazen by the day because they have little fear of being identified, arrested, and successfully prosecuted”.
WATCH: CCTV FOOTAGE OF THE INCIDENT
CCTV footage of the incident emerged on Saturday and has been widely shared on social media.
In the video, AKA is seen exiting Wish restaurant on Florida Road while seemingly saying goodbye to his friends, including Tebello Tibz Motsoane.

ANC CALLS ON ‘IT’ EXPERTS TO ANALYSE THE FOOTAGE
The African National Congress (ANC) in eThekwini called for a team of IT experts to examine the CCTV footage.
“The ANC in eThekwini Region has noted footage circulating in various social media platforms of alleged murderers of Kiernan ‘AKA’ Forbes and his friend Tebello ‘Tibz’ Motsoane,” said the ANC in a statement on Saturday evening.
