Iran is preparing to launch a direct attack on Israel within “the next 48 hours”, an American newspaper has claimed. This development comes a day after a US intelligence report warned of an “imminent attack on Israel by Iran”. Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has been presented with strike options; however, Iranian officials have not received his approval yet. US Secretary of State Antony Blinken has, meanwhile, sought China, Türkiye and Saudi Arabia’s help to stop Iran from attacking Israel. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has said, “We established a simple principle: whoever hurts us, we hurt them”.
