Keymaster A leaked internal letter from Pfizer warned employes against revealing confidential company information.
Whistleblower group Project Veritas obtained a copy of the said letter and posted it on Feb. 7 on its Twitter account. The letter appeared to pertain to the groupâs earlier expose involving Jordon Trishton Walker, Pfizerâs research and development director.
âWe are aware of and managing a recent incident where one of our colleagues was baited into conversation in a social situation and recorded without their knowledge,â the letter said. It added that working at the New York-based drug company âmakes colleagues an ongoing targetâ for groups such as Project Veritas.
âAs Pfizer colleagues, we all have much to be proud of in the work that we do each and every day and enjoy sharing our work lives with our trusted loved ones. That said, we must safeguard all sensitive and confidential information at all times and exercise extreme caution amid any discussions with acquaintances.â
The letter also warned employees of individuals posing âas news media to gain company information.â In those situations, employees were advised to refer them to Pfizerâs media relations team. âOnly approved spokespeople are authorized to speak publicly about Pfizerâs products, operations and reserch efforts,â the letter stated. The internal correspondence described the group founded and headed by James OâKeefe as among âanti-science activists ⌠increasingly brazen in their drive to gain and manipulate information.â
âThe tactics of these activists can be surprising and confrontational â including targeting specific individuals who are perceived to have confidential information about our science and in particular our COVID-19 vaccine. This targeting can happen online through social media and dating apps as well as in person through industry conferences or simple social situations, such as a casual conversation with a new acquaintance in a bar, on a date or at a party.â
Letter appears to be in response to Walker revelations
While the correspondence did not explicitly mention Project Veritas and Walker by name, the timing of its release appeared to coincide with the whistleblower groupâs expose.
The first revelation by the group, which it posted on Jan. 25, pertained to the Pfizer directorâs claims that the company is directing the evolution of the Wuhan coronavirus (COVID-19). This, he added, is to facilitate the development of new vaccines that will allow Pfizer to rake in huge profits.
âOne of the things we are exploring is, âWhy donât we just mutate [COVID-19] ourselves so we could ⌠preemptively develop new vaccines, right?â So we have to do that,â he told an undercover Project Veritas journalist. âIf weâre [going to] do that though, thereâs a risk. No one wants to be having a [pharmaceutical] company mutating viruses.â
According to Walker, Pfizer scientists had already been âoptimizingâ the process, albeit at a slow pace. He said: âObviously, they donât want to accelerate it too much. I think they are also just trying to do it as an exploratory thing becauuse you ⌠donât want to advertise that you are figuring out future mutations.â
âWe can do these selected structure mutations to make them more potent. The way it would work is that we put the virus in monkeys. We successively cause them to infect each other, and we collect serial samples from them.â
The Pfizer executive told the undercover journalist of the risks doing such an experiment.
âYou have to be very controlled to make sure that this [SARS-CoV-2] that you mutate doesnât create something that just goes everywhere. Youâre not supposed to do gain-of-gunction research with viruses. There better not be any more outbreaks.â
Ultimately, Walker disclosed why Pfizer wanted to manipulate the pathogen responsible for COVID-19: âItâs going to be a cash cow. COVID is going to be a cash cow for us for a while going forward.â
