During the Cold War come I had the opportunity of travelling throughout Eastern Europe, including behind the Iron Curtain and saw the beginnings of a number of successful secession movements including in the Baltic states, CzeckoSlovakia and Yugoslavia. It was also my privilege to be involved in the campaign for the secession and independence of South Sudan.
