Alastair and Michelle Mckenzie, owners of the popular Squires Restaurant, were asleep in their bed around 02:00 when they were both shot in the face. Their son, Greg, and daughter, Lexi, woke up from the shots and found their parents, covered in blood in their bed. They rushed them to the hospital. According to their son, Greg, they did not see any suspects. “A bullet penetrated my mom’s jaw and my dad’s cheekbone. My mom was operated on Tuesday morning to remove the bullet,” he said.
According to police spokesperson, Colonel Amanda Funani, the police are investigating two cases of attempted murder and one of house robbery. “The suspect, or suspects, gained entry to the house through a sliding door that was not locked. No arrests have been made yet.”
